In 1959, the Party Committee of Western Thua Thien organized a visit for officials and ethnic people in Nam Dong district, including Mr. Quynh Teu from the Co - Tu ethnic group in Ta Vac village, Thuong Long commune to the North. The delegation was honored to meet Uncle Ho on September 2, 1959 at Ba Dinh Hall - Hanoi. Uncle Ho graciously visited and gave gifts to each person, especially Quynh Teu was given 02 handkerchiefs, 01 silver necklace, 01 aluminum casserole and a photo of Uncle Ho with a delegation of ethnic cadres from the Western Thua Thien Hue. He respectfully kept the memorabilia given by Uncle Ho during the years of fighting against the US until nowadays.
To avoid the enemy, he carefully wrapped gifts from Uncle Ho in plastic and buried them in a tree hole deep in the forest. Particularly for the photo taken with Uncle Ho, when the enemy swept in 1964, the house was on fire, so he couldn't get it in time. Before his death, he asked his family to carefully preserve the memorabilia that Uncle Ho gave him. He gave his wife the silver necklace, gave his daughter two handkerchiefs as a dowry when she got married, and the casserole was given to his son. On May 11, 1997, his family gave back to the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Thua Thien Hue a handkerchief and casserole, while the other handkerchief and necklace are currently kept by the family.
