In the early 1970s, the urban movements began publicly and vividly with various forms of resistance. The urban movements made a widespread appeal of different social classes including students, businessmen, manual laborers, and the intellectual and artistic people. The Students’ Association in Hue City was the most inclusive student-led organization from which most of plans and programs were formulated, and the popularization documentation were produced and published. The mass media division of the Students’ Association in Hue City introduced many important publications such as “Why I want Peace?”,  The Hue Association’s Newspapers, The Newsletters of Force, and particularly the Publication of Prison Diary by the President Ho Chi Minh.

The fact that the Prison Diary was selected and published at this moment could reflect the strong belief and special love of students for Uncle Ho during this resistance period. One traditional music composition showed this

“On the starry night, the full moon appears sometimes

On the starry night, the eclipsed moon appears sometimes

In the river, the water flow runs deep somewhere

The opening stated clearly “The mass media division of the Hue City Students’ Association publish the Prison Diary in accordance with the educational demand of the students”.

The Prison Diary by the mass media division of the Hue City Students’ Association was the copy from the original volume “Prison Diary” published by the General Publication in Hanoi in 1960. The cover sheet, and the half-title page were decorated and written by students. The content of the Prison Diary was typed and the roneo printing technique was used for publication in 1971. The page number was 41 with the size of 10x20cm. The brownish papers were used for printing. Because of the small size of the volume, three or four poems were well selected, and printed in one page. This would make the volume portable and convenient for carry-on, which was very helpful for the popularization.
