Mr. Nguyen Dam was from Village I, Vinh My commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province. He joined the revolution and operated in Phu Loc district since 1945. In 1954, he gathered to the North and worked in the salt industry.
During his period of working in the salt industry in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An, Mr. Nguyen Dam got many outstanding achievements and was appointed to attend the National Congress of Salt Industry Emulation Soldiers held in Hanoi in 1958. At this congress, he was honored to meet Uncle Ho and was presented with a Chinese kaki cloth. He was extremely touched and promised Uncle Ho that he would always strive to better complete all assigned tasks. After a while, he used the cloth Uncle Ho gave him to make a large jacket to wear on solemn occasions. After many years of careful preservation, Mr. Nguyen Dam donated it to the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Thua Thien Hue.
